Our story
It started in 2019, in a small co-working space in Gatineau. Our founder, Camille Fontaine, was trying to switch internet providers and quickly discovered that the available comparison sites were cluttered with sponsored placements and hidden affiliate bias. The experience was frustrating enough to inspire a new kind of platform — one where every ranking is earned, not bought.
Camille partnered with data analyst Jérémie Ouellet and UX designer Suki Patel to create the first version of Expert Compare Point. Within six months, the site was attracting thousands of visitors from across Quebec. By 2021, we had expanded to cover financial services, technology tools, and home-related service categories for all of Canada.
Today, our editorial team of nine researchers maintains a database of over 850 providers. Every listing is verified quarterly, and our methodology is published openly so readers can see exactly how we score and rank each option. We remain independently funded and have never accepted payment in exchange for a higher ranking.
Mission and values
Our mission is to empower every Canadian with the information they need to make confident purchasing decisions. We believe that when people can compare options clearly, they save money, reduce stress, and support the providers that truly deliver quality. The following core values guide everything we do.
Transparency
We publish our scoring methodology, disclose affiliate relationships, and clearly label sponsored content. You always know why a provider appears where it does in our rankings. We believe that trust is built through openness, and we never hide the criteria behind our evaluations.
Independence
No provider can pay for a higher ranking on our platform. Our editorial decisions are made solely by our research team. Advertising revenue is kept separate from editorial content, ensuring that our comparisons remain unbiased and reliable for every visitor.
Accuracy
Every data point is verified against primary sources — official rate sheets, regulatory filings, and direct provider communications. We update our listings quarterly and flag any information that is more than 90 days old so you always know how current the data is.
Accessibility
We design for everyone. Our site meets WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, supports screen readers, and works on any device. Comparison tables include plain-language summaries so that technical jargon never stands between you and a smart decision.
Meet the team
Behind every comparison is a real person who cares about getting the details right. Our team combines expertise in finance, technology, consumer research, and editorial integrity to deliver comparisons you can trust.
